Story Spring — Social Cognition for Every Generation

Story Spring is a live and digital game using words, images, and sounds to inspire storytelling and memory sharing. Designed for multigenerational play — families, senior living communities, and anyone who wants a game that brings people together rather than putting them in front of a screen alone. Running weekly at the Institute on Aging in San Francisco for two years.

Story Spring addresses what most senior activity programs miss entirely — Social Cognition, the sixth DSM-5 cognitive domain. Research confirms that social cognition training is most effective for healthy older adults, and that combining cognitive stimulation with social engagement produces synergistic benefits beyond either approach alone. Story Spring is designed to do both simultaneously, through play.
