The Story
Sammy Wegent has spent over 25 years at the intersection of comedy, behavior change, and human connection. He started as an actor and improviser, performed across North America, and eventually realized that the skills improv teaches — thinking fast, reading a room, recovering gracefully under pressure — were exactly what the business world was trying to buy and failing to teach.
That realization became Speechless in 2013. Then Repartee. Then Story Spring. Then a methodology grounded in DSM-5 social cognition research that he'd been building intuitively for two decades without knowing the clinical name for it.
His career moves through comedy, game design at Zynga (CityVille, FarmVille), entrepreneurship, Fortune 500 facilitation, and cognitive game design. The throughline is always the same: find the most engaging way to teach the hardest human skills. He's reached tens of thousands of professionals annually at organizations including Apple, Google, Nike, Disney, Meta, Salesforce, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
Methodology Origin
Improv intuition, validated by science.
Twenty-five years of improv intuition turned out to map almost perfectly onto the six DSM-5 cognitive domains — the same framework neuroscience uses to describe how the brain processes the world. Social Cognition, the sixth domain, is the one every other brain health program misses. It's also the one improv trains best. That's not a coincidence. That's the methodology.
